Duke Motion Denied

In what will surely rate as the least surprising development of the civil case, Judge James Beatty has rejected the Duke demand to sanction the unindicted lacrosse players' attorneys and close the Duke Lawsuit website.

As Powerline's Paul Mirengoff had previously noted, "Setting up this kind of website, and indeed ones that are much more aggressive, is a common thing for plaintiffs to do these days . . . I confess that it has never occurred to me to ask a court to shut such a site down. Lawyers should zealously represent their clients, but it rarely serves a client’s interest to become a laughingstock."

It turns out that the only things perfect about Duke University are the idiots who run it. These people had the gall to call me yesterday soliciting money. AGGGGGGGGGGGG.

Ouch! That's going to leave a mark!

Gosh, even a bigtime Clinton lawyer like Jamie Gorelick can't bowl over a Durham judge with impressive words like 'incendiary'. Looks like she'll have to hit the Rolodex for reinforcements, or start reading through the thesaurus for more resonant phrases.

Here's a toast to Discovery, Discovery and Discovery.

While many have correctly pointed out that it's unwise to underestimate the intelligence and strategy of the attorneys that Duke employs, it's also worth noting that Wendy Murphy kept saying that Nifong had something up his sleeve, something factual, something inculpatory.

Sometimes, less is less.

Don:
They've been calling me too. I just don't answer--that's what CallerID is for.

... and Coach Pressler isn't forced into arbitration. Duke lost again in court.

Counting settlements, the university is on, like, an 0-4 losing streak.

Duke plays law like they play football.

Of course the motion was denied! It was unconstitutional and stupid on its face!

Reading this post just emphasizes the reasons that education in this country is in CRISIS (and I'm an educator). The professors (and I use the term loosely) who train teachers and others cannot separate fact from fiction. No wonder the U. S. is falling down the education ladder of the world.
Maybe a change in higher education will be forthcoming. Perish the thought--it might be eleven years as well, and we definitely can't afford that. Eleven years of this type of "educator" will throw our system into complete and total self-destruction.
Wonderland--safe haven.

I hope you told them where they could stick their request. I do not know how my almamater managed to spell my name incorrectly most of the time but when they wanted money they could.
