She is hilarious in her vapidity! And Ms. Ho, picture me like this: female, holder of more than one degree, liberal on many issues, a career devoted to the actual delivery of social services to members of our society in marginal positions, and a feminist.

Please do not underestimate the credentials or the societal contributions made by the diverse posters here. Although the acumen displayed in your blog would lead me to conclude that you can't appreciate what true moral outrage is based on.

I am confidant that my idealistic, artistic and athletic Duke student and white male son, grandson of people who fled Hitler's Germany just in time, will never have to spend an hour of his life with a woman who is so deeply confused about white male privilege and the victim status you confer on people capable of the most aggregious most malicious lies for the bald-faced goal of financial exploitation.

In all honesty, my son of left of center parents will never be hood-winked by you or anyone like you. He watched the mob in action, three members of the lacrosse team were respected friends on his hall and suffered harm vastly disproportionate to the crass party attendance, and my son was deeply shocked by those professors he wanted to respect who displayed no regard for due process and who allowed prejudice and malice as shallow as yours to blind them.

This was never about the oppression of women in a sexist society. Did you not see CGM's male first cousin dressed as a female pandering to the public by attempting to sell her not even born poor infant: born today in Chapel Hill and the "Duke Rape baby"! What hubris! These are your victims! This woman and her family are MIA in moral development. But you can't sort this out from a tasteless spring break party.

You, Ms. Ho, have given your sympathies to a vile perpetrator who found people like yourself (and here I only refer to your lack of fairness, logic, and mental acuity) easy to con. You display no sense of proportion, and a cliched point of view that fed the mob we so abhor.

When you post such drivel, you can expect a response from people who think you are part of the problem.

(I do think everyone above who had to comment on her name should have not stooped, despite how much her empty prattle in the face of brazen prosecutorial misconduct wed to political correctness gone mad provokes us all.)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32542246.post-68070634459060141412007-07-28T09:52:00.000-04:002007-07-28T09:52:00.000-04:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32542246.post-32724279628480317652007-07-28T09:28:00.000-04:002007-07-28T09:28:00.000-04:00Great Post, KC.Great Post, KC.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32542246.post-7145174171033742492007-07-28T08:56:00.000-04:002007-07-28T08:56:00.000-04:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32542246.post-76791713145960725222007-07-28T07:07:00.000-04:002007-07-28T07:07:00.000-04:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.machttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14248016116043347912noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32542246.post-27551508280077777042007-07-28T01:47:00.000-04:002007-07-28T01:47:00.000-04:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32542246.post-31429955362606434252007-07-28T01:45:00.000-04:002007-07-28T01:45:00.000-04:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32542246.post-85599336200563251222007-07-28T01:24:00.000-04:002007-07-28T01:24:00.000-04:00“race, class, and sex” – it’s like these academics...“race, class, and sex” – it’s like these academics espousing the epistle of “race, class, and sex” are stuck in the 8th grade mindset that divided the world into the oversimplified realm of themselves vs. those “others, jocks/rich kids, and popular kids” – like a script to a John Landis 1980s movie (Breakfast Club?).

“race, class, and sex”
------equal in Adolescence----------
“others, jocks/rich kids, and popular kids”

Eschew Freud if you must, but I’m sure he would have something to say about that. So I begin to wonder if these certain “academics” – back on oh… 8th grade or high school… were the “them” in the them vs.those “others, jocks, and popular kids” [“race, class, and sex”]and never grew out of it or still hold a grudge.

I was a "them" myself, but look back and notice I've grown a bit since then. Thankfully.

I’m also amused (and relieved) these “academics” can find a willing audience and gainful employment in the university system and mostly read by their peers (the choir). Their lack of logic and rigorous thinking, and reason… if unleashed into the business, scientific, or real-world in general would set us back 100 years. No, my children would not be corrupted in college, even if they took such a course they’d see right through this BS in half a lecture. And I’m talking about kids that are more enlightened & open to “race, class, and sex” than these academics appear to be.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32542246.post-33878360829007356692007-07-28T00:06:00.000-04:002007-07-28T00:06:00.000-04:00For Pete's sake. Most of us on this board are decent people who have not been allowed to hold open discourse about the problems of race or gender. Ask Larry Summers, formerly of Harvard, about that. One-sided censorship and privileged pontifications come from your friends and colleagues, not us. You want a fair debate?? You can be pro, I will be con. But I tell you I would be called a racist by all of your buddies in attendance.
You are a lightning rod. Sorry, your buddies set you up, just as they have set up all of us for years and years. I am sure you got only support from your friends and colleagues in the narrow world of political correctness, the mainstream though just shakes their collective heads and puts up with the nonsense because if they don't, severe social and political penalties are imposed. Open discussions? Logical arguments? Reasoned statements? I thought that was what a university was for, not to be a forum for propaganda.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32542246.post-59065766021401160612007-07-27T23:27:00.000-04:002007-07-27T23:27:00.000-04:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32542246.post-58861775795590214792007-07-27T23:24:00.000-04:002007-07-27T23:24:00.000-04:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32542246.post-70195560471824989152007-07-27T23:20:00.000-04:002007-07-27T23:20:00.000-04:00Professor Ho, if that IS your real name, we judge ...Professor Ho, if that IS your real name, we judge people here by their ideas. Kathy Rudy was in the class. Turner was lecturing about the various cultures in Africa that got all mixed up here in America in the 1800s. He referred to the “cultures” as “interpenetrating” one another. He used the term “interpenetrate” several times. Finally Rudy and another woman exploded and slammed out of the room. Turner looked absolutely crestfallen: “What happened,” he asked. “You used the term “interpenetration” too much,” someone said. “What?” he said, with a look of absolute bewilderment. If I recall correctly, he had a meeting with Rudy and the dean of the Divinity School before things got straightened out. That was 18 years ago!
