Take a look at the modern descendants of what everyone would acknowledge as a horrific chapter in our history. The really horrific part of the story is that some people haven't left the chains that enslaved them. Nor have they been encouraged to do so. Unfortunately, a benevolent and enabling government has, for generations, helped a part of our "society" avoid responsibility or, at the least, avoid growth.
