Nifong Implodes

The SANE nurse and the officers (except for Sgt. Shelton) believed her.

'There were no questions presented to me by anyone about her story."

Nifong: Mangum as of 12-21 did not know what object she was being sexually assaulted with.

Q: What was your assessment of your chances at the suppression hearing?
A: Never thought about it; got notice from the state bar at about that time.

"My focus at that time was after we got her through the child-bearing complications if she wanted to proceed with the case."

Is it Nifong's job to "get her through the child-bearing process"?

Denies that there was a relationship between the scheduling of the Wilson interview and the communication from the Bar on DNA.

Has just claimed that he never spoke with an attorney who offered to speak with him about the case and his client. (Jim Cooney made this offer in a November meeting with Nifong.)

Says that he has never spoken with an attorney before seeking indictments.

Claims that he would have sat down with Seligmann if Reade had been willing to do so.

"Throughout my time"--Nifong now begins to tear up--"Throughout the years that I have served as a prosecutor in NC, I have always tried to do the right thing. In this case, I was trying to do the right thing. Much of the criticism that has been directed against me in this case are justified. The allegations against me that I am a liar are not justified. I felt that it was important to come before this commission and to defend myself against the allegations."

Nifong is now speaking just above a whisper, and in tears. Denies again that he has lied or intentionally mis-represented himself.

"Very proud of my son, and hopes that he is proud of me."

"It has become increasingly apparent during the course of this week, in some ways that might not have been apparent before, that my presence as a district attorney as Durham does not serve the cause of justice."

  2. KC,
All this hard work coming to fruition. congraulations and thank you for helping get this 2 bit punk in the dock.

    ReplyDelete
  3. OMG. The "I'm incompetent" defense... he's doing a good job of proving that.

    ReplyDelete
  4. We need more "implosion" than that?

  5. 'There were no questions presented to me by anyone about her story."

I though Himan said he did?

  6. Strawberries...

  7. I thought that when Nifong was cross-examined (which in effect is underway with Williamson), I would feel triumphant, or perhaps enraged.

Instead, I can only shake my head and mutter, "the guy [Nifong] is just plain pathetic".

  8. This farce is getting ready to end soon

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yes, he shut everyone off who would have asked questions to him. Of course, there was nobody asking questions. Nifong deserves to burn in hell!

    ReplyDelete
  10. If she was too fragile for an interview by him then why let Wilson proceed with one?

    ReplyDelete
  11. The ruling is going to chew this idiot up and spit him out. The pleadings in this case (before he recused his idiotic self) were full of questions about her story.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Nifong says "yes ma'am" to Williamson!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yes ma'am--I mean yes, sir. Stop asking me questions!!!! I can't think anymore, my head has exploded!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. How many times can he contradict himself? Good lord, it's so obvious that he's lying, and worse, coming up with his lies as he goes along!

Is there a mercy rule in law?

  15. Pretty cushy job he had.
    Didn't have to know anything.
    Didn't have to see anything.
    Didn't have to hear anything.
    Didn't have to send anything.
    Didn't have to say anything.

Unless you are a big time news org. with a tv camera.

  16. Dianna,
If there was such a rule this would have been over long ago.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I had at least expected his defense to be plausible enough to make me angry.

    This is funny.

  18. "Could not continue to work the case cause he would not be able to present it in a manner fair to her"

How is it his duty or obligation to be fair to her?? She is not his client, and by definition owes her no duty...his client is justice, if that is not "fair" to the accuser, then tough...he is so deluded

  19. "Denies that there was a relationship between the scheduling of the Wilson interview and the communication from the Bar on DNA."

I can see that. However, I think there is a relationship between the Wilson interview and the December 15 hearing.

  20. In little league, this would have been called long ago due to the mercy rule. But that's for little leaguers--Nifong is a venal, adult POS. No Mercy!! Bury him.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Only a pathological liar could sound as convincing in his lies as Nifong does.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 3:39

He must have been confused again and thought he was her private lawyer, not working for the state of North Carolina.

Again, if I was to guess, I guess that Ben Himan is the least dumb person involved in this charade and I guess that Ben Himan can prove he expressed doubt about Mangum before the AG got involved.

  23. OK STOP, bring on the cross, watch him fully implode and let this farce be over...

    BDay

  24. So he's just making shit up now. I think he's forgot he's in a room full of lawyers and judges. This isnt a working-class jury, Fong. That crap wont fly.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oh for God's sake!

What happened to his open door policy of always sharing information and being available to defense attorneys?!

    ReplyDelete
  26. diogenes, he's not convincing. This is pathetic; he's inconsistent, and contradicts himself between one reply and the next.

How do you find him "convincing"? In his stellar portrayal of a total idiot?

  32. I have to admit, it's pretty cool to see KC blogging away in a camera pan, hit refresh and see it a few minutes later.

...these are the days of miracles and wonders and don't cry baby don't cry. [actually, he seems to be crying now]

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hard to believe but his lack of ethics is exceeded only by his incompetence.

    ReplyDelete
  34. He needs to leave the courtroom today and check himself into a mental hospital, claim fatigue and plead delayed diagnosis of complete mental breakdown.

    ReplyDelete
  35. What a loser! I cannot stand this guy! I hope they do not buy this act!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  38. OMG!!! He's trying to be READE!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I guess he is leaving. Good riddance.

    ReplyDelete
  40. So he admits that Reade is a great kid and if only he had met him all would have been fine! Is this guy for real?

Boo hoo, I have always given everything to defense attorneys, except when I forgot!

    ReplyDelete
  41. NOW he's imploding!

Lying AND blubberin' like a baby!

    Hawwwhawhawhaw!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. He makes me sick. This experience is not good for the Seligman family. It is just trauma all over again to hear him lie like that. He says he would have dropped the charges if he had met with Reade. He is full of shit. Now he turns on the tears.

    ReplyDelete

If you take responsibility, resign from office and the bar.

    ReplyDelete
  46. OMG!! Now HE is crying? The "paris hilton" defense!!!!!! what a pathetic creature!

    ReplyDelete
  47. What are they getting at by saying Reade is an impressive guy and if only Nifong had spoken to him he probably would have done things differently? What the fuck is he talking about? These guys were dying to talk to him, and he laughed at their face! He insulted them and their families and their lawyers on every occasion he got? What the hell is he talking about?

    ReplyDelete
  48. He's crying? Oh. My.

Oh, dear. Oh, dearie, dearie me!

    I do not believe this.

    Dianna

    ReplyDelete
  49. He is actually a pretty god actor, like most lawyers.

    ReplyDelete
  50. OMG He's upset, Poor Fong. May he rot in jail. He sure didn't give a s**t while he was putting these guys thur hell.

    ReplyDelete

Now you know how the boys felt you jerk...

I nominate Mike Nifong for a legal Oscar.

    ReplyDelete
  57. He is going to resign!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. He's gonna resign!

    ReplyDelete
  59. He says the allegations are not justified (speaking softly now).

    Wow, he is absolutely pathetic.
    He's crying now.
    This could not be funnier.

    Crying, talking about his son.

    PATHETIC. LAUGHABLE.

  60. Holy shit! He's resigning on live TV!

    ReplyDelete
  61. is he gonna now give up his license and then walk out??

    ReplyDelete
  62. So,

He got on the stand, tried to lie his way out of, got caught out and now he resigns.

What a jerk. If he thinks this is going to help him w/the panel, I think he's wrong again.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I agree with plumber.

    ReplyDelete
  64. JLS says...,

So he is quitting? Is he hoping to save his law license?

We better still get a cross.

    ReplyDelete
  65. He wants to keep his license and his pension.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  67. Just resign asshole, and reimburse the state bar for the cost of this proceeding!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Oh, now we know why he said "when I was District Attorney."

    ReplyDelete
  69. He'll go to his grave...blah, blah, blah... and Reade and Dave and Collin will always be identified as rapists.

    ReplyDelete
  70. On my sociopath theory ...

Crying can be used to manipulate, I think he's genuine (in feeling sorry for himself) because sociopaths do indeed feel ... feel for themselves or their direct interests.

He's quitting now. Good job all. Would buy KC a beer just now if I were local.

  71. JLS says...,

  77. Nifong Implodes

    That's quite a prescient headline.

  78. to the extent??????

what kind of weasel words are those????

    LOSER

    ReplyDelete
  79. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

    ReplyDelete
  80. JLS says....,

Also Nifong is a liar. They better not believe he will follow through and resign. He might well go to work on Monday and say he was kidding if they don't disbar him.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Maybe he will commit suicide now?

    ReplyDelete
  82. I need a drink

    ReplyDelete
  83. He didnt lie. That wasnt lying!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Whats the over/under that he'll eat a gun soon?

    ReplyDelete
  85. Resign? He knew what was coming!
    He is the worst!
WRAL is making me sick as well.

    ReplyDelete
  86. suicide is painless!

    It brings on many changes!

and I can take or leave it if I please.!!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Part of me feels sorry to watch a man as KC said, literally implode in front of us, FINALLY realizing that his life, career, reputation are in ruins never to rise again.

The other part of me feels that its his own fault, there were so many places and times along the way that he could have made a graceful exit, in fact, if he had dropped the case the cloud of suspicion would have hung over the boys forever, his own stupidity made him continue past all reason, until finally the bar grievance foreced him to rescuse himself.

Even then, surely he could have done something else, simply admitted he did make mistakes but he did it because he thought she was telling the truth and throw himself on the mercy of the bar?

But this, getting on the stand and telling bald faced lies all day long and when you finally see nobody believes you, you go on a public crying jag and resign??

And then there is the cynical part of me that believes he did this to ensure the story is "Crying Nifong resigns' and the lies he told will be burried AND he gets a break from the cross.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Eat a gun soon? Regardless what this man did, that is a classless tasteless comment.

    ReplyDelete
  89. THEN:

"There are two words I never want to hear again, Duke and lacrosse!"

    NOW:

"I will go to my grave being associated with this case."

    ReplyDelete
  90. MrRabbit: Stop feeling sorry for him & stop talking trash. This is how bullies act once they get thrashed. Nifong is nothing but a nasty bully. He finally is getting a taste of what its like to be on the playground with bigger kids. I feel no pity, only loathing for such a scoundrel. A better man would have repented, resigned and turned in his license some time ago. He lacked the character and intelligence to do the right thing. He's sniffing and snivelling now, but he put a lot of people through hell. What crocodile tears.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I think this was inevitable. Somehow a part of me does feel sorry for Nifong, even though he brought this on himself. I feel even worse for his family.

    ReplyDelete
  92. ToTo All:

I indicated yesterday that it was my belief that Nifong was a sociopath. His testimony today confirmed it. Truth and lies were spoken without hesitation. Fact and fantasy were intermixed. I suspect the general perception now is that there was a pretty sick guy at the wheel in the DA's office.

What happens now? Disbarring is a mere formality. The clock now starts ticking for the willing accomplices. The ship appears to be listing.

    Every man for himself!

  93. FINALLY realizing that his life, career, reputation are in ruins never to rise again.

What are yew talking about?? Use car dealerships are probably already offering him twice his salary to sign up with them. He could also become a Angry studies Prof. at Duke. Life has just begun for Nifong.

    ReplyDelete
  94. All,

Let's not forget that without CGM's original lies Nifong would never have started this. Further, were it not for the behavior of the likes of Levicy, the Potbangers, G88, NBPs, many members of the MSM and other enablers, he might not have continued with this witch hunt.

I certainly hope that this is just the beginning vis-a-vis holding these other people accountable to the members of the Duke LAX team and their families, most especially the LAX 3.

    ReplyDelete
  95. 4:21 mb

Amen, he didn't do this in a vacuum.

    ReplyDelete
  96. It has been extremely apparent since March 2006 that Nifong's presence as the District Attorney in Durham does not serve the cause of justice.

    ReplyDelete
  97. is duke a state school?
