Williamson Appointed to Judgeship
Governor Beverly Perdue has appointed to a vacant Superior Court judgeship Lane Williamson, who presided over the hearing that resulted in Mike Nifong's conviction on multiple ethics charges and subsequent disbarment.
Based on Williamson's performance in the Nifong case, at least, it would be difficult to imagine a more appropriate choice, in terms of both intellect and judicial temperament. North Carolina is lucky to have him on the bench.

Funny story: my work buddy and his law-student lady friends are Duke alums and were heading down to NC to visit family. I told my pal on the phone "tell your girl I heard she was going down to be on the Crystal Mangum pro bono defense team." Hilarity ensued among all of us.
Isn't Lane the guy who referred to Ben Hyman as "Mister Obfuscation"?
Good!
He dubbed Meehan "Mr Obfuscation"--and appropriately, given Meehan's performance on the stand . . .
Lane Williamson's performance during the ethic trial was beautiful. I am so delighted to hear this good news.
Observer
I wonder when that renowned jurist Karla Holloway will be appointed to a judgeship.
