Nifong's Bill from the Bar

The invoice from the ethics hearing is in, and ex-DA Mike Nifong owes the State Bar nearly $9000.

The specifics:
  • Nifong's deposition: $2523.05
  • Ben Himan's deposition: $1295.00
  • Gottlieb/Ripberger depositions: $1105.05
  • Linwood Wilson deposition: $865.60

The remaining money comes from the cost of the court reporter for the ethics hearing, plus incidental expenses.

Oh no, Mikey!

Nine thousand dollars would have paid for a mint condition Gibson...once owned by your on the road again buddy.....Willie Nelson.

Now you'll just have to buy some new guitar strings for the one you have.

¡ QuĂ© lastima !

If he's in a real pinch, he can hit Willie up for some bio deisel and wacky tobaccy!!!

Now if we could just assess all lawyers who file frivolous lawsuits in hopes of a settlement like the Bar assessed Mikey we'd be in business. How many of us are paying much higher insurance prices because of those fantastic lawyers of the John Edwards ilk. Chase those ambulances like Mikey chased the LAX players.
If there were a penalty for these suits, we would all be better off!!

Causing pain shouldn't be that cheap!

God help me I almost felt bad there for a second. But then I remembered how the LAX families bled day after day, month after month, money flowing out of their lives by the minute as they fought this bas***d. I want him broken AND poor.

That's a bargain.

Of course it would have been cheaper on both his ego and his wallet if he had just quit.

Pales in comparison to what the three lacrosse players paid. I think that even the unindicted players probably paid quite a bit more than that individually for counsel.

Having the world know you are a lying asshole. Priceless!

Castro?

This will depress more than one Klan of 88 member...and maybe Sean Penn too.

I ook forward to watching the bar try to collect.

5:22, you JUST beat me to that riff!

Que lastima indeed, Debrah.

Any guess before Anonytrolls show up?

Suppose this will loosen up Nifong's tongue so that he will begin to talk about "the ones whom we do not mention?"

Could be interesting.

I was once in a bar drinking thirty year old Macallan's and I ran up a bar tab about the same as Nifong's.

Oh...different bar. Sorry. (But I'd bet we were similarly wobbley kneed after getting the bill.)

Looks like that whole plan Mikey and Cy came up with to increase his pension didn't quite work out. Hopefully this will leave him short for cantine money when he gets what he rightfully deserves and is behind bars.

I predict the dog is going to eat Fong's checkbook.
Here is a link to a Liestoppers thread containing an image of the itemized invoice. Note that there is only a $5.00 charge for a dishonored check.

Aye Inman and a wee dram of Glenmorangie of Dornoch Firth to celebrate Mikey donnin' the oragne jumpy!

Anonymous said...

By all rights, it should be a lot more than that...there's nothing here but out-of-pocket costs.

Maybe Mikey can sell "Wanted" posters with his own picture on it to raise money to pay the Bar tab. Bet they'd be a big seller.

Mikey already blamed Williamson et al; it's hard to imagine who he's going to blame next.

Which reminds me:
How about Williamson as the replacement for Nifey? (Not that he would, but...wouldn't it be fun?)

God I'd pay to see the expression on good old Mikeys face when he saw that bill. Something tells me it wasn't the arrogant smirk he wore during the hoax pre-trial court proceedings. Better get working Mike- I hear Bunny-hole Entertainment is looking for drivers

Mercy, it's one thing to bring El Jeffe, Alberto G. into the mix, but wholly another, to bring in Willie.

What the hell has he go to do with any of this fraud PC bull shit?

He isn't like the Klan of 88 - he has talent.

He isn't like Brodhead - his audience respects him.

He isn't like the pot bangers - he actually earns his keep.

He isn't like the NAACP, ACLU, et al - he doesn't hate anyone.

He isn't like the feminist - he respects all women.

You lost me...

We've come a long way baby.

Can't wait to read the letter that accompanies the check....

Who would he spill the beans on? Didn't Nifong orchestrate the hoax?

Anonymous said...

Nifong orchestrate the hoax? Why this is just another expression of the Evil Racist Conspiracy of White Power Brokers who connived to destroy the Noble Altruistic Truth Seeking Mike Nifong for their own nefarious power-grubbing purposes! This invoice proves it, don't you see???

Maybe he will say that the dog at his checkbook.

Anonymous said...

No, his dog ate the bill. :)

That's all? $9,000 for Nifang when the innocent Duke players shelled out close to a million dollars each! That's peanuts.

I wonder how Mikey would make bail, should it be in the neighborhood of those he accused in this case?

It was funny to read the comments on the WRAL site about this story - there were some who suggested that he was a hero for standing up for downtrodden minorities (white male students in Durham?), that he really did a lot of good over the years - we mustn't forget all that good traffic court work he did. Dimbulbs rule!

Nine thousand is nothing - where is the bill for Nurse Levicy?

No justice indeed!

How about that Willie "skated" away from a multi-million dollar Federal tax obligation for pennies on the dollar?

As for respecting all women, his "tax holiday" is an insult to Lady Justice (and to honest taxpayers!)
