Live Blogging

More than an hour before Mike Nifong's hearing, satellite trucks from all major TV stations in the Triangle, as well as CBS nationally, are outside the State Bar headquarters. This is a case replete with ironies.

At the April 11 NCCU hearing, Pastor John Bennett demanded that Nifong ensure that those students he targeted be placed in handcuffs, so they could be humiliated before the world. Seven days later, the District Attorney did so. It appears, for Nifong, that what goes around comes around.

Incidentally, Nancy Grace had someone sitting in for her on CourtTV yesterday, as well as today. Hiding?

I only wish that Nifong were placed in shackles and paraded and shamed in front of the world. Nifong, G88/87, Brodhead, BOT, and the host of vile enablers pose a palpable threat to a free society.

I am quitting work early to sit and watch the hearing. I may tape it and when I feel down, put it on as a pick-me-up. (Not really.) I would normally feel sorry for someone like this; who is so destructice to himself and others.

Wait - what am I saying. Nifong LOVES the camera. It was just a year ago that he couldn't stay away from them!!

She was on her regular CNN show last night - am I the only one who finds her speech patterns really, really, really annoying?

More than Nifong (and I totally despise him), I want to see the Group of 88 and President Brodhead in the UNEMPLOYMENT LINE - forget the shackles. Remove them from a position where they can poison young minds!

KC, are you saying the "Confederacy of Dunces" has arrived? :)

All these scraggly haired females are the master of innuendo - Nigon is the master of double speak - Need someone to ask Woody if Nifong has been talking like this for years. Where is John Bolton and the other Nifong supporters? Gotta give Woody credit, at least he showed his face-however unconfortable he was. Professor Everett - where are you with your legal opinions?

No, I don't believe so. And please don't take my word for it (as you obviously don't). But you should at the very least ask the 3 lax players and their families whether they think I exaggerate.

Well, while Mr. Nifong absolutely trampled on the rights of those three boys, which terrorized their families... and while prosecutorial misconduct is abhorrent and criminal and must not be tolerated...

I'm not sure that I'd classify Mike Nifong as a "threat to a free society". I don't think he is that significant. Sorry, just my opinion.

Is there the slightest hope that this Pastor at least will man up and issue a real apology? As in, "I have failed in my duty as a Christian, a Pastor, a community leader and a citizen."

Just one real apology would take a lot of this vile taste out of my mouth. I'm tired of apologies that feature a sudden and striking absense of actors from all the action.

Just spoke to my son who's in Professor Coleman's Criminal Procedure class. He said that he was terrific discussing the case in class for the first time. Emphasized the Seligmann point about due process and justice. He's a real hero and a standard for those who want to see basic American principles upheld.

To be sure, yours is a non-spurrious opinion. That said (and I'm just guessing here), but I'll bet my house you have been falsely accused of a crime and been forced to affirmatively establish your factual innocence. Such a "significant" experience tends to "focus one's mind" and alter one's perspective a bit. But, hey, that's just *my* opinion.

Well perhaps you are confusing the horrific, unspeakable situation Mike Nifong put these innocent boys into, with Nifong being a broader threat to our free society.

What he did to those boys is hideous, and from their perspective, he most certainly threatened the Sh-- out of their freedom...

but as for Nifey being a general threat to a free society... the former small-time prosecutor is likely (and justifiably) going to lose his license to practice law.

Maybe he is planning a terrorist attack or something? How is he a "treat to a free society"?

Pastor Bennett-another chariatable minister of the cloth with no Christian values. Another plus from this case, the Men of Gd exposing themselve for the hypocrites they are. Whats Well's have to say now? When can we expect Berber to return to Duke Chapel and chastise the sinful?

There are no words. Like Nixon, Nifong tried to rape the constituation - how much of a threat to society, do you have to be???????
