Nifong on Open Discovery

As the case moves toward its expected conclusion, some continued reflections on the more glaring of Mike Nifong’s contradictions.

mikenifong.com, letter to Durham voters: “I have never understood why any prosecutor would try to gain an advantage at trial by concealing evidence from the defendant. After all, if the information in question is damaging to the State’s case, then the defendant is clearly entitled to have it; if it is not damaging to the State’s case, why should it matter if he gets it?”

N&O interview, December 15, admitting he agreed to conceal exculpatory DNA evidence: “We were trying to, just as Dr. Meehan said, trying to avoid dragging any names through the mud.”
