Coincidences
This evening, I was running late, and had to take a cab from Durham to Chapel Hill. By chance, the cab driver who picked me up? Moez Elmostafa.
We chatted for the ride: he's an incredibly nice man. I asked him if he had things to do over again, whether he would come forward: he said yes. He was pleased to hear about the possibility of a federal investigation of Mike Nifong. He reminded me--which I had forgotten--that after his arrest, he wasn't released on his own recognizance (he was charged, again, with a 2.5-year-old misdemeanor warrant), but instead was made to post bond of $700. No doubt Nifong's office hoped he wouldn't have the money. He said that he recalled well the N&O photo in which Inv. Clayton did his best imitation of a 1950s Southern sheriff.
In a case that has had few heroes and many people betraying the trust society has placed in them, Elmostafa stands out strongly.
I've also heard from a couple of sources to expect a significant drop in the number of early admissions applications for the Duke class of 2011. This trend should come as no surprise: what parent would want to subject their child to a system of "separate-but-equal" justice, in which the Duke administration has acquiesced?

Hi, K.C.,
Glad to hear about Elmostafa. Though I haven't read ir yet, I received an email from the Duke Chronicle about falling admissions numbers, so it's on their site. After Greta Van Sustern's program tonight, I am appalled at the slanderous behavior directed at Messrs. Finnerty, Seligman and Evans. They and their families are courageous and fine people. Please give them all our support and prayers tomorrow.

K.C.,
What a wonderful coincidence! I think that Elmostafa is a real hero -- as are you. Hope that tomorrow's hearing brings good news!
By the way, I will be on WBAL Friday afternoon at about 4 p.m. to discuss the case. If it is good news, I will be ripping Nifong. If it is bad news, I will be ripping Nifong.
I was very disappointed at Greta tonight for raking up the other male from the family Mr. Jackee. What a lot of crap.
As for Ted Williams.....is the guy smoking something....he is a real chamelion ?
KC, do you have any comments about the latest bombshell re the accuser giving birth?

I'm not surprised to hear that applications for early decision are down. Most of the students who apply for it are ones who can afford to pay the tuition. That usually indicates parents who are informed, caring and protective of their children.
This was not brought about by the Lacrosse Team but by Duke's Board of Trustees, top administrators, and agenda-driven faculty members. Those of us who love Duke are sick at heart.
KC--
How uncanny that you would be be picked up by Elmostafa.
Very wise to stay in Chapel Hill; however, I saw on another board that someone had given you restaurant advice.
Lots to choose from here in Chapel Hill, but when you get back to Durham, don't miss stopping by PARIZADE on W. Main St. The food and the owner/chef Georgio will make you forget you are in the outer limits called Durham.
As everyone else has already opined: You are doing a terrific job and we love you for it.

Remeber KC, Nifong is a product of Chapel Hill College!
One of the most amazing aspects of this case is the inexplicable stupidity of the administration and board in uttterly failing to rethink and adjust their position in this matter quickly evolved and pointed to serious issues regarding the credibility and honesty of the accuser and the prosecution. Why were they not siezing every opportunity to stand behind their students? As a current Duke parent, I am apalled that they have never shown wisdom or character in their decisions regarding the management of this case. The boys were throw-aways to them from the very beginning. Hard to imagine any competent organization so seriously failing to make the right decisions. The board and the administration have not a leg to stand on. They have distinguished themselves....in an extraordinarily pathetic and disgusting way.
The Duke Board hung those poor lads out to dry.
If enrollments are down then it must fall on Broadheads spineless shoulders!
sure duke hung the boys out to dry, but any other university like duke (harvard, princeton, yale, columbia, unc-ch) would have done the same thing.
the multicultural epidemic is not confined to duke, the durham da's office or durham. its a national problem that should be treated.
This case has shown what the real agenda is of the "civil rights" movement, the multicultural and diversity cheerleaders. the idea is to use majority minority jurisdictions to punish white people for being white. this is about power to them. its not about truth or fairness.
duke was complicit, but any other similarly situtated school that is devoted to diversity propaganda would have reacted the same. the only problem with the kids who aren't enrolling at duke is that they think other schools are different. They aren't.
Have a look at David Horowitz's book THE PROFESSORS for more information.

KC keep those posts coming all day. Thaks for all you are doing.
Serendipity. How great is that? Was he aware of you, KC? I'd love to learn that Elmo has read the blogs and seen a bit of the "love" that has filled bandwidth in his support.
KC, I know your feelings towards NC are not the warmest; but if you want to try some of the local cuisine, you should check out Allen & Son Barbecue on Hwy 86 at Mt Sinai Rd. (Sort of out in the country between Chapel Hill and Durham.) Unless, of course, you are vegetarian; in which case, nevermind.... :-) (Actually... Anotherthyme, near downtown Durham, would be good eats if you are vegetarian.)

KC is actually even safer in Chapel Hill. I have tons of UNC alumni friends and even they think this is a crook.
Thanks for all the hard work KC and Bill.
Also, how does the live blogging work? Is it here in the comment section or is it on the front page? Looking forward to tomorrow.
Be careful in Durham, KC!!
Interestingly, Brian Meehan of DNA Security has now tonite pulled his website behind the firewall

Consciousness of guilt.
I'm guessing those of us in NC are the only ones aware (yet) that the accuser just gave birth tonight.
It's all over the news here, and you know how they're playing it? "Nine months after the Duke lacrosse party, the accuser gives birth."
They forgot to add "Coincidence? I think not!" but I guess it's pretty much implied.
its national news..it was on fox news tonight...great van sustern's interview of Jak-Kay was an embarrasment...i wonder who are the "they" that are keeping the false accuser from her family that Jak-kay kept referring to...
KC-
Stop by UNC hospital
and say hello to "Honey".
It looks like early decision applications dropped some 20% in the fall:

While I seriously doubt that this has anything to do with the fact that "Most of the students who apply for it are ones who can afford to pay the tuition. That usually indicates parents who are informed, caring and protective of their children." as per 11:03's suggestion, it's still quite an interesting development.
Great story about two heroes of the hoax crossing paths in Durham. I second what NDLax said - I hope Elmostafa knows how many people appreciate his honesty. He's a stand-up guy.
As for the insanity that took place on Greta's show tonight - there are no words.
11:19, you might be interested to know that Brodhead has a history of rushing to judgement. He did the same thing to a Yale professor falsely accused of having an affair with a student.
Isn't there a name for this syndrome? God-complex, maybe?
Could I ask someone to describe what happened on the Greta Van... show?
No TV.
Please explain how the blog will work. Will there be constant info from the hearing room? How to tune in?
Greta (who usually is direct and to the point) was truly disappointing in her interview with the he/she/it of the hoax. She must have asked 10 questions relating to the accuser being kept from contact with family members, often opining that this would be hard for a women during pregnancy. If that wasn't enough, Greta takes the position that perhaps the accuser was a victim of Nifong as well as the accused. Oh please, Greta. Give us a break! All in all, she may the birth of this out of wedlock child seem like it was perfectly normal and we should all be celebrating this blessed event. Before this sham is over, the networks will have elevated this welfare baby to celebrity status and the alley cat mother to sainthood. (I must apologize to the alley cats in my neighborhood for making that comparison).
Mir: if you go to the Liestoppers discussion board, there is a whole thread on the Greta show which details everything that was said and done (and also includes some funny comments from posters who were watching).
FYI One of my son's classmates was accepted early to Duke (found out last night). He is in the top thirty in a class of 180. This is a dramtic dip for Duke. Normally a student from our high school would have to be in the top ten (Ivy-Like) to be admitted to Duke.

You can watch it yourself.

My guess is Duke has dropped from Ivy-like status to that comparable to Northwestern, say, and this is even before the show trial (if it ever ocurrs)!.
In particular, for every college, unless youre top tier, its hard to pull in males with high GPA's and this travesty is definitely going to dicourage white males from coming, to some extent. And of course, once the white males stop coming in droves, the females are close behind . How many girls want to go to a school with 62 % females and so few boys to choose from? Look at the ivy league schools; even far-left Brown U is 50-50 gender balnced.
The writing is on the wall for the near term, and I would argue they may never recover. After all, Durham itself is always going to be nextt door.
NJ mom -- Does your friend's son play lacrosse?
Good advice about PARIZADE Restaurant, it is owned by the same guy that owns George Garage that I recommended, but PARIZADE is a little more high end. Also on 9th st you will see some students, if any are still in town. Baby story is down, I guess someone has a link to some story about it? If so please post it.
I see first time your site guys. I like you :)
