Nifong on Credibility
Q: What was your assessment of Ms. Mangum's credibility at the time you dismissed the rape charge?
Nifong: I had no direct assessment of her credibility at that point.

I see that David Rudolf is sitting beside Kathy Seligmann.
My senses tell me that he will be front and center with respect to some huge civil cases that will be brought.

"Nifong: I had no direct assessment of her credibility at that point."
One second, I'll need both hands to pick my jaw back up.
There, I'm back.
Nifong's responses are incredibly stupid. Non-answers, really.
He must think he's sitting in Durham among his "constituency". He's played this game of lowgrade doublespeak for so long that it's now a part of his DNA.

If two felony charges (sexual assault and kidnapping) against three defendants depend COMPLETELY on the credibility of the "victim" (since there is not one single piece of other evidence that either a kidnapping or sexual assault ever took place), shouldn't a DA take the time to form an assessment about the credibility of the "victim"? If he doesn't bother, under these circumstances, wouldn't that make him one of the most incompetent lawyers on the planet?
