Nifong's Selective Memory

In his responses to Lane Williamson's questioning yesterday, Mike Nifong suggested that he had never said that he knew of the unidentified male DNA, but had authorized withholding this information from the Meehan report because of privacy concerns.

Here's the N&O, December 15:

After court, Nifong amended his remarks and said he knew about the DNA results.

"And we were trying to, just as Dr. Meehan said, trying to avoid dragging any names through the mud but at the same time his report made it clear that all the information was available if they wanted it and they have every word of it," Nifong said.

Day late and a dollar short to drag them through the mud (Dec 15th). They'd been convicted in the media for six plus months. The exculpatory evidence had been known most of that time. Nifong needed time and hoped that the media would "forget" so he could wiggle out.
