Bannon on Linwood Wilson

Question, from Lane Williamson: [Wilson] is not a conventional law enforcement officer?

Bannon: No. But he does have a badge.

Linwood's badge is used to intimidate!

So what does the badge say? Suggestions, anyone? "Durham Big and Tall Bass-Voiced Men's Club"?

Michael said...

Does it have a cross on it?

Anonymous said...

no but has the Scales of Justice

'he does have a badge'

and may have stayed at a Hol Inn Express last night, as well

The badge says, "Linwood Wilson -- Still In the Fire"

Willsin is a complete low-life! I never knew he had a badge. Does he impersonate a police officer?

my 'refreash' button, F5, is wearing out... Hanging on every word. Thanks KC!

They give DA investigators badges indicating they work for the agency...most aren't POST or otherwise certified, and aren't really cops.

What is the name of the attorney doing the questioning for the NC Bar?

Boss Hawg Nifong told him he wanted them Duke boys behind BARS no matter what!

Now that's funny!

A badge and no conscience.

Not a good combination.

Wilson is definitely a class A scum bag. One of the most ridiculous parts of this whole saga is that Wilson interviewed Mangum at all and then by himslef with no record.

Not trying to hide anything there huh.

The bar is being represented by Katherine Jean and Doug Brocker. Brocker is a private attorney but I think he used to work for the bar.

Really appreciate the coverage. I've tried to watch the hearing, but I am up and about and can't really follow the significance of the proceedings. I think Bannon makes a very credible witness. He's very composed.

A question for legal eagles out there. Is the evidence presented thus far compelling enough to show that Nifong is guilty?

What strikes me is that Nifong really wanted to believe these guys were guilty and pursued this beyond the point at which a reasonable prosecutor would have given up. The question I keep asking is did Nifong maliciously pursue these three innocent men, was he was too blinded by ambition and the drive to be right, or is he just plain stupid. I still haven't figured that out, but every time I want to think that he was just incompetent, there's testimony that clearly indicates he knew what he was doing.

Nifong knew exactly what he was doing. The cops, defense attorneys, players, everyone said there were plenty of reasons not to go ahead with these indictments.

When an investigator and then that investigator's boss come to the DA and say hey, we don;t think you should indict, there isn't evidence and he does it anyway.

Plus we are now seeing the lengths he went to in order to try to keep the exculpatory DNA evidence from coming out.

How can anyone think this guy didn't know exaclty what he was doing? He's guilty as sin.

Reminds me of a quote from Blazin' Saddles..."Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!"

Thanks for the information on the Bar attorneys.

I think it was from "The Treasure of Sierra Madre" that the stinkin' badges comment originated. Anybody know??

JLS says....,

re: anon 1:29

There is no question Nifong knew what he was doing when he indicted, he was winning his priarmy. For a year now the only question for me is why Nifong did not dismiss these charges this time last year.

He had not opponent for the general election. He might have been slapped on the wrist for his comments to the press, but he would have succeeded in stealing an election, would have gotten his big pension and none of his discovery violations would have ever come to light.

A reasonable person would have dropped the charges . Nifong is not a reasonable person but rather an arrogant man so full of himself that he allowed this thing to so spin out of control that his ego couldn't let go even when everyone else (almost everyone) knew it was a lie . He really does need to be disbarred to protect society from his deluded legal judgement....now we know why he languished for 28 years in the lower positions of the DAs office .

Neither. He's a sociopath.

What kind of defendant makes chuckles and smirks in these proceedings?

Anonymous said...

This may have been addressed earlier, but who's paying for Nifong's attorneys? I hope it's him, but I'm afraid it's the taxpayers of NC.

Thanks for the blog updates--this coverage is much better than WRAL's--especially since my employer blocks video downloads.

Witt on cross of Bannon.

Witt trying to make the point that there were no dates set for trial in the June hearing.

Whose cell phone just went off the 2nd time??

Michael said...

Witt going through timeline for last summer and up to Smith now.

Michael said...

DSI documents talk about privacy issues (Meehan) with releasing data. Nifong said that he'd bring it up with the court.

Witt: Nifong would take no position on giving the underlying data.

Anonymous said...

What a crock!

Michael said...

They received underlying data in October. Nifong/Meehan had problems/issues with making copies.

1:37 JLS says.."The only question for me is why Nifong did not dismiss these charges this time last year...
He had no opponent for the general election."

The Black "community" would have been outraged if he dropped the charges, especially after all his declarative statements early on. I think he would have been investigated that much earlier if he had dropped charges, and possibly challeneged in the general, as well .

His only hope was to bring it to trial and get a hung jury. It was a fairly good gamble on his part, and would have succeeded if the defense never figured out the DNA, which they almost didnt.

Michael said...

Witt was relatively short. He's done. Redirect right now.

Michael said...

"whose privacy would it violate"

Witt tried to shut Bannon up before he got to this one. On redirect, the prosecution had him reread it.

Smith gave permission to publish some stuff of the in-chambers conference that was sealed.

Is Linwood Deadwood on the
witness list?

Anonymous said...

The quote, "We don't need no stinking badges." was lifted from "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" with Humphrey Bogart. It would seem this whole affair didn't need "no stinking law" either.

Linwood may not be POST, but he IS a POS, same as Mikey and the rest of the persecution team.

For their parts in this Hoax they should all do a stretch behind bars.
